We hold a family service, without Communion, once a month in Great Waltham. These services are suitable for all ages but with some parts specially aimed at younger children. It is usually on the second Sunday of any month except for November when it is replaced by the Remembrance Day Service.
This is an interactive service with activities for children and adults, song and quizzes. It lasts around 40mins and is created and led by The Family Service team. Each service has a theme. The dates and themes for our upcoming services are:
There is similar service in Ford End once a month (23 April, 28 May, 25 June, 24 September, 22 October tbc, 26 November)
Children are always welcome at all our services. They are welcome to sit with your or make use of the toys and activities in the children’s areas (or do a bit of both). If they want to walk around the church during the service please let them – we want everyone to enjoy coming to church and to share in God’s love. If they colour a picture or make something during the service please encourage them to share their work with the Minister and congregation at the end of the service.
The churches at Great Waltham and Ford End both have accessible toilets with baby changing facilities. At Great Waltham it can be difficult to get a buggy or pram down the steps from the main door but there is level access from the door under the tower, please ask if you need help.
Mothering Sunday – 26 March … there will be family services in all our Churches – Ford End at 9.30, Great Waltham 11 and The Chignals 11. Posies will be distributed to all the ladies (and gents, too if you would like them)
At 5pm there will be a Reflective Mothering Sunday Service at Great Waltham. This different kind of service is aimed at those who find Mothering Sunday difficult, for whatever reason, there will be a simple communion and tea and cake and fellowship after the service.
